I distinctly also make this distinction because an HG girl like Wave will tell you she's from Shenzhen, but if that's the case why doesn't she speak Cantonese?  Well that's because she's from Hunan originally. I can tell where they're from, from their accent and words they use, sometimes.  The ones from Beijing and Shanghai are easy, as are girls from Guangzhou and native Shenzhen.  Other provinces, much harder to tell.  Even easier with Cantonese speakers - easy to tell the ones from HK as opposed to Guangzhou as opposed to Vietnam as opposed to Kuala Lumpur.
