I am heading to CP this weekend and will probably be alone.

I can not get out of my head the post of a fellow bro who said he would not go alone to CP because it is too dangerous and if alone would rather go to Macau.

What I was hoping from you guys is some perspective. In HK, 108 people got killed by car accidents last year and the govie and some people think it is outrageous. I saw some protesters yesterday who were asking for LOWER TAXES!!! I know some people think Wanchai is "dangerous"!

Can some one give me a clue whether it is suicidary for me to go there alone or whether it is no more dangerous than walking around let's say Vietnam? I am foreign looking altough not caucasian.. I will be looking touristy like mad (without the camera).

What do you guys think? And while I am at it, which hotel do you suggest should I book to stay Friday night with a Sunday checkout?

Am I the only one who hasn't any idea where or what CP is?

Bro do tell how your trip went once you are back. I want to explore mainland china too but I know I'll stick out like a sore thumb. I don't speak mandarin or cantonese and I don't know how much of a drawback that will be when it comes to mongering alone in china either.

常平 sounds like a peaceful place to me tho I've never been there. Is it supposed to be any more dangerous then SZ? I've walked all over hell in SZ and never had a problem.
