Can't leave karma

Karma has just become an option when I go to leave a rating, but when I enter an amount and click submit I get this: "Your score is empty or without the range of possibilities, please return."

I have only just gained enough karma to leave it myself, and am seeing 20 as available but it doesn't seem to work. What am I doing wrong?
