Yes, it is on CCTV, and that means Beijing is on alert.

Is this just the routine CNY seasonal crack downs, or this seems like the real deal that carry on for months?

Any comments from the experts? Thanks.

I read a report saying that many of the local district police chiefs have been sacked due to a new city police chief.  Not to be a pessimist, but I think the glory days of Dongguan are definitely on the way out.  The industry is just too large to turn a blind eye, and is embarrassing for the government.  But, hey, I've been wrong before.

But if they close it all down, where will all the corrupt officials go to get their "entertainment"?

You might still be able to see it on the TV News tonight and tomorrow.  Looks like a few places got raided beside Crown Prince Hotel on the TV News.

On TV I think I saw the name of the hotel on the glass door called "Gudan" when the girls were being escorted onto the Vans.  It's also on the pictures.
Does anyone know where is "Gudan Hotel"?

I think there is a WHITE COP on the Chinese police force.      Look at the picture or it just might be a bad picture.

Sadly, I think some punter got caught in the act.  They even show a sex chair on TV.   Looks like someone must have brought a hidden camera around.  One segment, two girl start dancing, when a manager pull the curtains.

what makes the difference is if these were announced or unannounced raids?

does anyone have more info on this? I remember reading that they got 65 people which doesn't seem like much.

does this mean that more DG will need to come to HK to the hotels?

does this mea ...

I think these were unannounced, but most likely many owners were already expecting it due to the TV program so it shouldn't come as a surprise.

However, they were lead by police from the Guangdong Province instead of the the local police department of Dong-guan so I guess the places that get raided couldn't get warning from the local corrupted police.

On the bright side, if you consider they used 6000 (yes, SIX THOUSAND!) police and only managed to arrest around 160 people, that's pretty bad return. This is taking into account that they apparently raided 2000 locations. If they really caught one of the more popular / better "stocked" places red handed, that should at least double the number, so it is perhaps reasonable to assume the more connected places have not be closed down.

Nonetheless, I think many places will lay low for a bit, as should any punters and see if it is just for show or will this continue for the foreseeable future.

They can also go to Macau don't forget! I guess some would go home too (the punting scene in smaller city seems unaffected for now). Some may come to HK hotels so fingers cross that the quality and service will go up here!

Just my 2 cents. I could be wrong!

In DG right now. From my local guys, this series of raids is from the central government, and not the provincial govt. so there is apparently no dodging it.

Local guys are recommending to keep the heads low, and punt with extreme care. It's not just a DG thing, but a Guangdong, Guangzhou thing.

Guess it's gonna be a cold and lonely night.

I would believe most places would be on high alert in ALL of Guangdong.  They might tell everyone there are closed but will ONLY take clients they know and trust.  These raids made Chinese
National News.

I never hear those hotel names in CP. Is CP got raid this time?

I think KTV should be fine right in the future? Since we take WG overnight at our hotel room not at business owner room such as sauna............

I'd say KTVs should be ok after a while. It's the SNs that get smashed as always.

Looks like the raid period will last for 3 months.
