With $5,000, wait for sale, you can get so many branded choices.
Then get the shop to send the suit for alteration to fit your thin and short posture....

jborne, I thought u said something about money crisis ......why not use the $5,000 for 7 hotel gals ($700) and the remaining $100 as tips equally to 7 gals............

JG - still can get 3 shots with $5,000.

Your chat on suits kinda boring.

If you would put it in a way like:
$5,000 - a 50% sale Armani Suit or spend all on 141....hahaha

Try Shenzhen `commercial city` if u have time?

Recently went there and had 2 jackets made to measure for 1300rmb. Good finish!!!!

Some tailors there even deliver to HK?.

If not try somewhere like Raja fashions or so and maybe some places in chungking mansions

Both are ok. Lane Crawford perhaps has more sale than the others. Also Lane Crawford has a warehouse in South Horizon, perhaps there are some suits there.

Personally love Armani.

What about...

I am not sure if these name brands have factories in China or HK (still?). If you know people, they can direct you to the outlets where they sell the items that don't meet the QC standard. Yet, these defects may not concern you at all, like 120 stitches instead of 130.  The price may be like 20-30% of the original cost.

With the US$ being so weak, you can try http://www.menswearhouse.com/index.jsp =D

But I think they fixed the exchange rate betwee HK$ and US$ a long time ago. Is it still in effect?

just want to express my envy here, I am unable to drop 5K for a suit.  But if you're not looking for Armani, zegna and such, I can recommend a slim fitted kind (like the japanese style suits) for under 1000.

If you want to go for cheap, there are tailors in Shenzhen that'll tailor-make suits with whatever label you on. Armani, Zegna, Gucci, Mercedes Benz....

bro,

If you don't mind the tiny shop that it is, you could take a look on the 4th floor of the Kimberley Island shopping centre (across from SOGO in CWB).  The whole building is practically young female fashion, but that shop is for men's suits.  It's a bit on the trendy side, and not all styles there are for the workplace.  Nice to have a look anyways.

the suits i've been getting for the past 4 years ar from MK
a place at siu man centre first floor.
and i am sure they are made in PRC
they cost HKD900 per suit.

and despite they call themselves designer suits.
they never fit!

so i think in case i am risking of putting another 900 dollars down the drain, i should just go for a Zegna suit.

Never had a suit made in HK, had a couple made in Taiwan though.  Quality, well... I guess it really depends on what you are looking for..  I am satisfied mostly with what I got, though sometimes they have a hard time listening, and when mistakes are made that you find after the clothes are finished you may end up with an end product that is not quite what you wanted...  Anyway... at least they fit right. Usually.
