Just the mask you normally wear when sick, but I'm sure people would still recognise me in a heartbeat as there are not that many gweilos in shirt and tie walking around SSP/CSW or the numerous seedy places I visit in Shanghai St/Pilkem St.
It reminds me of a story about the time I was once spotted with a WG while we were walking along Nathan Rd. (without a mask or limp of course)  We were going back to her Jordan walkup after having had dinner to celebrate her birthday.  We had just finished holding hands since she decided to call family in Thailand, and then someone yelled out my name - twice.   I chose not to turn back to see who it was and I distanced myself from the WG.  Never recognised the voice and never did find out who it was.  I dodged a bullet.

You are right, the only Gweilos you will see around the SSP or CSW area are prob expat cops...not sure how many are around nowadays.  I remember back in the day around 2000 where the were Gweilo officers patrolling the the temple street areas..

Thats a good move actually, did you contemplate not looking back or was it more of an instinctive natural reaction?
Good thing the voice came from behind you...if it was in front of you, it would have been tough.

Anyway, there are still foreign cops in HK? They should have left after the handover no?

Besides getting stared at by other bros when going for a 141 session, does anyone get a look when
you buy a Playboy magazine at some shop by fellow shoppers?

Once i was waiting for my buddy at a Starbucks at Causeway Bay and he called to say that he was running late.
So i went to a nearby newspaper shop and just casually picked up the latest edition of Playboy (besides it having
nude pics and all, it really does have some journalistic value in its articles). To me it was no big deal and i just paid
for it but not without getting some looks from this guy who was buying at the shop buying some newspaper.

I went back to the Starbucks, got a coffee and sat down to my magazine. Again, as people came and went,
i am pretty certain i got some looks along the way.

No idea, probably a mixture of both .... pure self-preservation knowing I would be a dead man if caught.

HK is still a very conservative society, so buying what is in their view, a 'porn' mag openly is deemed as 'unusual. As for reading it in Starbucks in CWB, I'd be suprised if no one gave you a funny look.

I don't think its just HK. readin porn publicly anywhere would seem kind of odd.  If children are present, its would seem pretty improper to be viewing that imo
