Hi Guys, I will be going to CP for some KTV action but was wondering if any of you have taken the ferry to HK airport from there? I'm wondering if it's better than taking the train since it's more direct with no transfers plus probably no traffic. Please share your experience. Also, would Shenzhen Shekou be the closest station to CP? Thx

#2 Post at 2-9-2009 16:17  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L not the ferry, but you can take a bus from HKIA to DG, which would probably be more convenient depending on the time of day.  Costs $200HKD. There would be two transfers - one right after crossing the Huanggang border crossing, then possibly another transfer halfway between SZ and DG from the looks of the below graphic.  If you're lucky, the good part would be that you wouldn't have to worry about dragging luggage through customs. #6 Post at 2-9-2009 18:46  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L following up on this, does anyone then have any idea how much it will cost to get a hotel driver (say for example you are staying at miraton hotel in CP) to come pick you up at the Humen ferry terminal and take you to the miraton hotel in CP? 25km journey i am guessing maybe around the 100RMB region? ferry sounds good if your flight timing is in sync with their sailing times definitely. but may be a bit of a pain to get from Humen to CP.

#8 Post at 3-9-2009 08:03  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L I take that back, Humen to Changping is more like 60km, not 25 km.  Humen to the center of Dongguan is about 25km. It seems to be the best bet would be to take a taxi from CP to Humen, then take one of the ferries to HKIA. You would avoid the long custom lines especially in the morning and early evening.

#10 Post at 3-9-2009 10:41  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L here's an article I found, concerning various options for travel between DG and HK.  Nothing too profound, just confirms what I thought:  The best option for going to HKIA is probably to take the Humen ferry to HKIA, assuming that you figure out a decent way to get to the port.  If you happen to be taking Cathay Pacific, or some of the smaller airlines such as Dragon Air or Hong Kong Air, you can check in straight from the Humen Ferry Port. http://www.heredg.com/feature_pdfs/11_2.pdf Another option is that there's a free shuttle from Changping to Shenzhen Airport.  Takes 50 minutes, but saves you some money.  The catches are that 1) you need to fly out of SZX, but there's probably ways around that and 2) there's no ferry out of the SZX airport, but rather you need to take a shuttle bus (10-15 min) to go from SZX to the Fuyong port, then catch the ferry from there to HKIA.
