White guys in HK

Hey Bro's I have seen forms of this question asked a couple times and have compiled a great deal of information from this board already.  However, I have always figured the best way to an answer is to ask it directly.

For American/European visitors in HK can someone give us newbies to the region a few key "best" practices to avoid us from really looking stupid

Specifically I will be staying in TST (Just north actually) but any general information would be great.  Mandingo's post was extremely helpful and twiceAweeks input from the moderator chair has cleared a great deal up.  I just don't know if there are any snags a person from outside the region should look for.  The language differences will be hard enough.

Thanks,

I cannot for the life of me think of any special behavior or unusual practice a white guy would have to adopt in order to monger in HK. It's all common sense bro, no different than in any other part of the world. You see the girl, take of your clothes, shower, fuck her, shower again and then pay.

Yes, don't bring a bowl of rice with you when you go whoring in HK. Now there's good advice!

Most boils down to common sense, but, in terms of politeness, here are a few:

DON'T ring the bell if the "please wait" sign is up.
DON'T stand right at the door and wait, as the WGs have TV monitors in their rooms, which means the WG may be rushing that guy's session (unfair for him) or that guy may be out off having sb else standing there listening at the door; show the other bro some courtesy
DON'T take photos unless you get the girl's permission (no candid shots)

When the price is $380, don't give a tip of $64.

Even if you work in the meat industry, don't introduce yourself as Pork Guy.

More seriously, don't mess with people, don't start confrontations, don't lose your temper.

Actually your strongest advantage is you LOOK different.  It's MUCH harder for ABC's who look local but act and talk foreign.

When you look strange, people immediately ASSUME you're going to be an idiot, so you get huge amounts of credit for doing simple and obvious things - like using chopsticks correctly, or tapping the table when someone pours you a drink, or insisting you pay the bill three times before relenting, etc.

AND, when you look strange, a lot of girls will find you exotic and exciting ...

As long as you're polite and respectful, you'll get along fine, and probably find it easier than back home.  If you do make a gaffe, it's easy to laugh it off.

And just how does this differ from the way in which civilized people are expected to act anywhere else in the world?   I'm surprised you don't think it necessary to warn him not to piss in public while you're at it?

Tho ScottieDog, if you really want to blend in here in HK, always force your way onto subway cars before people have gotten off.

Starting a confrontation in Western Europe or the US/Canada does not lead to the sort of consequences to which it can lead in Southeast Asia (and to a lesser degree, Hong Kong). A lot of white boys don't realize that.

You've been watching too much TV bro. Starting a confrontation anywhere has negative consequences, esp in the West! You don't have to tell someone that when he's visiting a foreign country - it's common sense for Christ's sake.

SD is just a typical westerner intimidated by the idea of visiting an Asian country for the first time. He's concerned about committing some taboo peculiar to an unknown culture. He doesn't need advice on the importance of courtesy. The very fact that he would solicit advice on this in our forum indicates that he's not the kind of guy who needs to be told "not to start confrontations".

I want to thank everyone for the answers.  This confirms most of what I have learned on this board and helps me realize a monger is a monger.

LOL

After all this time and all your posts, I'm surprised you haven't realised that nobody listens, and you just have to keep with the simple stuff until the questions go away!!!

Apropos, there certainly are some cultures that DO need to be reminded not to piss in public, not to spit, etc etc ... part of the beauty of living in Hong Kong ...
