Just had this stuation - walked into a room of a walk-up Asked for her name, she was a bit evasive - saying 'why do you need to know my name' etc...then she asked for money upfront. After reading some reports and general lurking in the chat section i knew this was a bit of a no-no. When she said it was 30mins i just knew this was not going to be a good experience. So i stood firm - i told her i pay the money after - ALWAYS and she insisted on money before. When she sensed i wasnt budging and was moving to leave, she relented a little but it was soured already so i just left. I think she was surprised but her attitude was a real turn-off and i headed elsewhere.

With her display of attitude at the outset, things wouldn't likely have improved if you had acquiesced. Why did she do it? Maybe . . . (1) A previous customer did a runner on her (does this ever happen? I know times are hard, but really!) (2) She was a substitute (reluctance to give her name supports this) from out of town (continent?) and didn't know how things work here. (3) Her skills sucked and she knew there was zero chance of a tip, so what the hell. (4) She was conflicted about what she was doing and needed to have the moolah in her hot little hands to make her feel OK about it. In any case, I agree with ML she likely shouldn't be in the business, or any service business at all.
