Hair styles?

No seriously,

What kind of hairstyles do you associate with various different nationalities? ,

In that when I had long ass hair down to my waist everybody thought I was Japanese (they were half right).

I left it medium style say Last september and people speak Cantonese at me first instance.

I trimmed it short this time , and now I get people approaching me speaking Mandarin...


If I shave me head completely what nationality will people think I am?

Ppl are speaking Mandarin to you because you got yourself the typical mainland china businessman/factory owner haircut.  I had one myself years ago and received the same treatment like yourself.  Since then I avoid that hairstyle as a liability to meeting local chicks in HK.

Pay attention to the hairstyles of those mainland businessmen or factory owners and you will get the picture.

I'd say that this only proves why some of the more pessimistic among us believe people are inherently stupid.  Although you can sometimes try to guess where a person's from based upon their appearance, you never truly judge a book by its cover.  Random assumptions like what you've just described are certainly annoying at times, especially when based on something like hairstyle.

people judge on appearences
i once shaved my head and my friends werent too friendly with me
but when i had my old hair back they suddenly want to invite me to bars and such
so i guess if you go bald .. people will just think of you as a cancerous person.. (LOL my friends thought i was)

this would be too judgemental by the looks of hair appearance. i prefer to wear my short. Haven't a shaved my head yet.
Unless i have Vin Diesel look.. LOL

i guess years ago local girls will avoid mainland looking guys, but now that the hk economy needs rich mainland tourists to survive, maybe the mainland hairstyle may become trendy and attract the type of girls I see in Kowloon and NT.  Girls in HK island are too snobby to go for mainland guys, even if it is a rich mainland guy.

What is a 'mainland hairstyle'?  I meet a  lot of Chinese guys in HK that have short hair and they're not mainlanders. Must admit I can't remember if I've ever actually met any mainlanders, at least that I know of.

almost crew cut as I am active in sports...which means I am kinda fit physically

When I went to HK, the locals I became friendly with asked if was in the military or police.  At least during massage, girls tend to notice that i work out
