It's a sad situation, because ultimately China will assimilate HK, politically.  The original agreement between England and Zhao Ziyang was to leave HK to its own sovereignty for ... 50 years(?), but being as HK is no longer the financial powerhouse of all of Chinas territory,  they just aren't inclined to honor that agreement, and even if they were to, the 50 years would have elapsed eventually regardless.

I sympathize with citizens of Hong Kong.  Their entire lives are subject to the whims of the chinese government which, if you've followed the truth of what China has done to disrupt communities in their western provinces who they deem to be a threat based on religion or ethnicity, is pretty scary indeed.

As for punting, who knows what will happen.   Get those punts in while you can, HKers, because once it's ruled illegal, the prices skyrocket.
