quick question of a newbie concerning phones

Hi folks,

i will be in HKG tomorrow and was looking for a bit of fun. Something i noticed is, that most of the girls have a phone number in their profile. I do not own a Hong Kong phone, so every call will be really expensive for me, and dont think i will want to buy a simcard just to have a good time once. Is there any other Messenger i can use to get in touch with them like WeChat (if so, how does it work, i never use it) or whatsapp? Or any other way I can contact them or do i have to restrict myself to the walk ups?

Thx and greets,

Your Hellokitty

You can try using the listed phone numbers to add them on whatsapp or wechat, but they might not be on these platforms at all, or at least not registered with the phone number listed in the ad.

If you have skype out, you can try calling them from skype, rates are pretty cheap. But they might not pick up an incoming phone call with a strange non-hk number.

You can buy a prepaid local sim card, a couple of weeks ago I bought a csl one for 48hkd, used 18hkd for a 1-day voice/data package, and the remainder is good to use in the next 180 days...
In any case, 48 isn't much, and there might be cheaper ones, for all I know.

You will need an internet connection to use we chat/WhatsApp so better just buy a sim card.

Which hotel are you? Some hotel provide handy phone which is free.

There still have public phone booth in HK.

Or why don't you just go ring some door at those 141 places. No need to call

Thank you for your answers. I have free Wifi in the Hotel in Kowloon im staying at, so that wont be a problem. But they dont offer free phones. I am considering buying a simcard, but i might also just try some walk ups. My problem is, that i usually go late at night/early in the morning until around 4-10am. Do you guys know any good locations around that time? Most of the girls i see in the DB are there till 1 am at the latest (usually 12). The threads i could find are from 2010, so might not be very up to date. Is Apliu St. an option? Or maybe the Fuk Wing St.?
Oh and another question. Full service=sex in the db? Or am i missing a term here?
Oh, another question: How are the places marked. So if i go to Apliu ST. without having a specific adress, will i (without speaking mandarin/cantonese) be able to see from outside whats what?

Buy a sim card at 7-11.

A lot of punting can be done in HK without having to use a phone or internet. Targets are everywhere.

You can buy  the CSL tourist SIM with 4G/LTE for 5 or 8 days with 1.5 or 5GB data for HK$88 or HK$118, respectively. So US$8 or so to be connected, have maps, internet and such, makes no sense to wiener about with none or trying to find Wi-Fi. Also you get access to 20K CSL hot spots with the SIM and number and a portion of the small fee is a credit for calls or SMS messages.

Hardly a huge cost to get a number and to be able to set up a Line or Whatsapp or WeChat (whatever that is). There's no ID taken just buy at 7-11 and put it in the phone and you're done.

If you planning to wander the streets in SSP look for the pink fluorescent lights and those will usually point you towards the builindg that you want to see.  Of course then you gotta go into the building and start hitting the doors.

I think for a first timer you might be better off hitting JSL in TST

if you from the states and have t-mobile you have free edge data...not the greatest but it gets the job done.

But I would recommend like the rest of the bros said just get a prepaid sim card and make your life simple and walk ups are terrible because you can't tell if they are open or closed or if you get a spot and girl tells you no after looking at you then you need a backup plan

Watch For Dropped Connection Type (4G/LTE to 2G)

I have a second rather ancient phone for trips like this (it's a ZTE Blade S6) which has LTE but I notice if I am in a blackout area like an elevator it drops to 2G.

Not sure if that's CSL or my phone but it's not a big deal, if it happens just go to network settings, connection type, and pick CSL 4G when the list comes up.

The phone is slower than molasses but it's just for Line, Messenger, a map now and then and on LTE it's pretty fast but if you get the tourist SIM check the display now and then and re-poll for 4G if you see it acting pokily.

Still for what amounts to unlimited data for the short time I am here, it's a pittance, expense-wise. Though not as cheap as Thailand mind you.
