New HK Macau Road

Anyone know when the new road from HK to Macau will open?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hong_Kong–Zhuhai–Macau_Bridge

Once open it should make a quick punting trip to Macau more doable.

LOL this one was supposed to open in 2016 (and even that was a delayed date). I'd bet sometime in 2019, maybe even 2020. Just look at the immigration island off HK airport. That has to be completed as that's where HK immigration will be.
By the way I agree it'll be more convenient. But don't expect more speed... it'll be 30 minutes after you clear HK immigration at the island off Chep Lap Kok, to get to the Macau immigration on - yes - another artificial island off Macau (you'll also be able to go to Zhuhai from there). The immigration and public transport into Macau's notorious traffic.

When I was a student, I read all these complaints about citizen from HKG about how long more they need before they can finish the international airport. I remember papers and magazines weren’t very kind to them in terms of being slow.  I hope they would take too long for this one.  I am no  architect or engineer but 6 years is a long time “to me”.  As for faster turnaround time for punting? Let’s see if the immigration check will slow us down

Useful?

It is hardly useful. When using a boat,, you can get to Macau from Central in 1 hour. So it would be only useful for those using the airport. From HK center, the road would only require more time. The boat is not that expensive anyway.I heard that Macau will have trams
