How we do the measurement makes a huge difference.  I assume everyone here is measuring the length erect.  Do you start from the base of the shaft and move towards the tip?  Or, do you start from the top and move towards the tip?  You'll notice it's a bit longer if you start from the base and measures up.

So, the median length among mongers here is 6 in, which is higher than the average length.  Anyone ever try to ask a WG whether his length is longer than her average costumer?
