I usually stay at the Westin, The Sheraton is way over priced in BK for some reason.

The Sheraton Grande is my favourite hotel in Bangkok. Though I've been using points to stay there. The last time I paid cash was over a decade ago. I like the Westin too. I tried a few other hotels this time though.

The St. Regis Bangkok
- Location wasn't as convenient as I thought. Was a 15 minute walk to Siam, 12 minutes to Centralworld or Big C. No food not even 7-Eleven in the immediate area.
- Beautiful room. Even better bathroom. Gorgeous pool.
- Not a fan of the lobby being on a different floor and needing to change elevators. Everyone sees you come in and go out.
- Probably wouldn't stay here again as a traveller as the location wasn't as good as I had thought. The room was just under $300 USD at the time. But I'm glad I tried it.
- Would be a really nice hotel for a staycation.

Four Points by Sheraton Bangkok Sukhumvit 15
- Location was really good on Sukhumvit Soi 15. Soi 15 itself is difficult to walk on. Has a back entrance on Sukhumvit Soi 17 were you can take the no traffic route to Robinsons/Tops/McDonalds or walk to Sukhumvit Soi 19 to Terminal 21.
- None of the rooms have any views. They all look into other buildings. I just kept the blinds drawn the entire time. TV was the smallest TV I'd seen in a room in the past 10 years.
- Not a fan of the rooftop pool layout. The chairs all face the pool. There's a lot of space on the roof and they could put the chairs anywhere but nope.
- Value for price and location was really good. Under $100 USD. The lobby restaurant/pub menu looked okay but because of coronavirus was closed early and I was never in the hotel before those times.

Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit
- A truly luxury hotel. They treat you like royalty here. There are so many staff here that I don't know how they can be profitable.
- COVID hit this hotel hard. But because of their luxury branding and status, they couldn't/wouldn't show it. One morning I was at their Italian restaurant for breakfast and was the only customer there. And this was still back in February.
- My favourite hotel pool in the world. The Sheraton gets a lot of guests for the same reason. Pool chairs are generally all taken by noon.
- Expensive hotel. If I had to pay out of pocket I probably wouldn't stay here. Even the breakfast buffet at their regular restaurant is $30 USD.

Cheers for the info on other hotels,

I did stay at The Sheraton a few years back and yes it's a nice hotel and as you say the Pool is a great place to be.

The Westin also has the lobby on another floor and you have to change lifts and walk right past the check in counter to get to your room

I have been with SPG ,now Marriot for a long time and this year would have been my 10th yr as Platinum and that meant you would recieve lifetime Platinum status. Hopefully they will extend this through to next year as there won't be much travelling going on for the rest of 2020.

When I go to BKK, I stay at the Jasmine City Hotel. It's pretty affordable and half a block or so from Soi Cowboy. I can't imagine how many times the bell boy saw me with the many WG I brought back to my room. Best thing is, the workers don't ask any questions. They pretend like they don't notice you when you walk in/out.

Rainbow Group - Nana Plaza

Some intel posted on Pattay Addicts (posted today) about a stickman's report.

"According to Stickman's column this week, the Rainbow Group in Nana Plaza Bangkok shut down, turned in their keys, and their now former bars are being strip of lighting and sound equipment. All four Rainbow bars are gone".

Thats pretty major news -  Rainbow Group has been around for ages - lets ee what else might happen in Nana.

Thai govt are suggesting that 1st May restrictions and businesses could star opening up - i doubt it.  A lot of venues are on their FB pages are hoping the 1st of May is true ( i hear the Bee Gees now ).  Even if 1st May happens no tourists - no one can get in and i suspect international travel will be hampered for a long time not mater what city in the world eases up on its movement restrictions etc.  Its a Damn shame about Titanium great venue . - I expect to hear more venues in BKK/Phuket/Patts announce closing for good in the coming months.  - Heaven Above in Patts has shut up shop for good.

First place you'll go to when everything re-opens?

What is the first place you'll visit when things finally start to re-open here? I'm torn between a few hours of slippery fun at Mitu or blasting a quarantine's load of cum down some poor cutie's throat at 7heaven.
