You do realize that these 1000 yr-old duck eggs are actually only a few weeks to, at most, several mths old?

Duh...  I really would not have believed that my ancestors from a 1000 years ago "planted" these eggs just so that I could enjoy them today with my pork congee!  LOL...  I have actually seen the process of making these in my grandmother's home village some place east of Guangzhou.  Put me off of them for a while because the fresh coat mixture was so pungent that it burned my eyes and nose hairs.  I have also seen them make Chinese sausage, that shit really put me off of Chinese sausage for a year, it is absolutely filthy!  Luckily I get to eat American made Chinese sausage here where it has to go through a vigorous US government inspection.  Yes, US food inspections are the best and NO ONE can prove to me otherwise and NO I will not look at any statistics because the food in the US is always clean.  Ignorance is bliss.

Only if you count the cholesterol in the egg yolk.  I doubt that there is proof that specifically 1000 year old eggs give you a higher sperm count.

Your American made sausages might be clean but I doubt they taste better than the Wing Wah sausages from Hong Kong.

I have had Wing Wah sausages and also sausage from Toisan, Toisan sausages win hands down liver or just plain.  America has Kam Lan Jian which is pretty good, usually refrigerated and matches close to Wing Wah believe it or not.  I think HK food safety is pretty strict too.  I recall visiting Garden a LONG time ago, I think I did at least, I was really young and I think this was in Kowloon and recall a very sterile environment.

Hey Sexpert, sorry to go off topic but being a lap cheung lover, can you get those Toisan sausages in hong kong? And where would be the best place to buy them?

Last year I got 2 packs of wing wahs confiscated at Guangzhou customs and when returning through customs at manchester they also confiscated another 2 packs

To be honest, I have no idea if you can get Toisan sausages in HK.  They were not packaged, just hanging on some "mini-rope" at the local butcher shop.  Anyone who has ever been in China knows the deal with the "siew lop etc..."  at least the Cantonese speaking areas.  I too have had lots of stuff confiscated during customs, the trick is to carry a piece of fruit and when they ask you if you have anything worth confiscating you give them the fruit and/or bun.  I usually get away with murder when I use this trick.  It works in the US.  I have even heard that "some people" froze about 20 lbs of precooked "unnamed animal" sauce included and shipped it under cargo in luggage so that some of "their" American friends can try out some "Chinese delicacies"

There is this american TV show awhile back called fear factor, basically you crazy challenges to try and win money. One of the challenges was to eat Pei-Dan. Of course all the american white folks couldnt do it. IRONICALLY they did not have any asians on that show.

I swear i'd eat all of them (maybe die of cholesterol afterwards) and win the damn money prize.
