So, a while back I had visited the sister establishment to Silk Thai in Wanchai called Home Thai Massage & Spa and gotten a really great veggie massage with an offer of HE or BJ, which I declined once I heard the price (a firm $500). I had a little time around lunch yesterday and wanted to get an actually good massage, and then see if I would get the up-sale again, leaving my decision to go through with it until the last minute. I called them up and made an appointment, which was very easy, since the MMS spoke great English, and headed up the escalator to see what would happen.
The facilities are really very nice at this location, with clean, large massage tables, bathrobes, slippers, and thick plush towels that you won't find at your average Rub&Tug joint.
I was greeted at the door by the MMS and a diminutive and clearly "experienced," yet cute, woman. After settling on an hour oil massage and being led into the large massage room, I disrobed and assumed the position. The massage, which started off with a relaxing hot-towel rub-down of my feet and calves, followed by an over-the-towel press-fest was quite good, with adequate pressure to loosen up some entrenched knots on my back and legs. After about thirty minutes or so, out came the oil and thus began the long strokes to the back, legs, and buttocks, respectively. Just not today," I replied. She said, "It's okay, same price." Which I thought was very sweet, but still insisted she finish me off with her hand. This place's sister shop in Wanchai has 4.5 star review on TripAdvisor and Silk Thai has a 5 star review. I'd say they both earned it from the veggie massage service alone, and now I think it's certainly worth a 4/5 by our "meat and potatoes-based" scale here, subtracting one star for the high cost. Will I do it again? I just might, now that many places seem to have increased their rate to $600 just for a jackhammer R&T in a filthy and uncomfortable massage room. | |
