Just came from Jakarta and the traffic is indeed terrible.  They are building a subway system around downtown so a lot of roads are blocked off or reduced in lanes.  I've taken a couple of gojeks and they're ok for the most part.  According to my Indonesian friends, the dangerous part is that there are a ton of potholes in the streets, so if the drivers are going fast and hit it really hard, you basically bounce off the bike.  In my own experience you're not able to go that fast anyway since even on a bike there is limited space to wiggle between cars.
