I think it may be primarily two reasons. You read a lot of (exaggerated) stories on online forums from guys saying how easy it was to pickup girls from TF/Line/Skout/Tinder/etc. And you think that you'll be the one to find that diamond in the rough non-pro GFE.

The girl most interested in and insistent on meeting me turned out to be way in the south of Thailand. Great face, legs and cleavage. Fluent in English as well. It was my own fault for not paying attention to where she said she was in her profile. I didn't realize until a week before arriving and flying down from Bangkok just to meet her would've been silly.
Another girl I was and still continue to chat with today is very girl next door. We've become much more like friends with daily chats like you would have with any regular friend. Looking forward to making a return trip to Bangkok and just hanging out with a fellow foodie buddy in her.
In an amusing turn of events, I civilian I met way back in 2011 found me on TF. She lost interest in me after I left then and I wasn't interested in her anymore. But she hounded me me on TF. I couldn't even remember her name but she remembered everything about me including my hotel and the places we went. | |
