Seems like a good idea, but my concern would be you still a screwed by having to wait at baggage unless you manage to do it all with a carry-on. He still had to wait on his bag after doing 45 minutes in the immigration line.
That airport really sucks though. I remember when it opened after delays and concerns. They tried to brand it as a world-class airport like HKIA. What a joke! It's more like a shopping mall that also runs a poorly-timed airport. And even after it opened they still didn't have enough gates. However, I guess it's just because we're spoiled by HKIA and how easy it usually is to get through... so you can be delayed on your flight to Shanghai  | |

Normally I get by with carry on, saves loads of time. Uber to Sukhumvit is usually about 440 baht. |
