I think WeChat has been like that for a while?
A few months ago I had to link my passport to my WeChat also.
VPN.
Astrill was blocked (for the first time ever) the week before National day. It was updated last week and is working fine for me now. I have used Astrill for about 4 years and never really had any issues with it until then.
I think Astrill is about 99 USD a year and can be used on 4 devices.
A free one that is ok for me is Betternet. | |

Astrill can be used up to 5 devices. Also it uses Wireguard these days; which is very fast. |
