Well, this is indeed bad news for the girls on Haiqiangjie....
Police are serious. Massage shops have mostly been shut down. Permanently. and some girls jailed. I was told that the police literally "caught some girls in active happy ending mode". I guess they knew when to look.
Bars are open, but new rules will be strictly enforced. Violations will result in permanent closing of the bar, no appeal. I saw the Chinese rules, and translated as best I can.
Must close at 2am. No more of fake close by turning off the light and closing curtain. 2am - 5am is peak revenue for these bars!
Curtains must be removed from the front doors.
Sofas and beds must be removed. (Why does a bar have a bed?  )
Must be well lit. No more dimming lights
No grabbing or calling of guys off the streets.
No sexy clothes. Must wear normal clothes as day time
Must maintain security video for 2 weeks, and police can check anytime they want.
Additionally, all the bar landlords were called into the police meeting and told that they have personal responsibility for violations.
Also, there will be no more loud parties allowed. So that pretty well spells the end for Fubar since the big parties were the only time they made a profit. From what I have seen, almost all the larger landmark bars are closing due to lack of business.
