That’s right in all caps! I just missed out on interesting times there a few months ago when this 8th-floor spa was suddenly closed, and yesterday I decided to drop in to see if it had reopened – it had but in a different way.

The soaking, lounging tub was without water, but the showers were clean and the facility had an upscale professional ambience. At 3:00 P.M. there was less than a handful of clients there, and there were outnumbered by masseuses and skin techs. A quick shower, pj’s and off to the lounge to see what was happening – I barely got sat down when I was accosted by all who worked there – foot massage, thigh massage, foot scraping, ear cleaning, shoulder massage, head massage specialists all descended on me like a murder of crows seeing a morsel of food on a winter’s day.
I settled on a thigh massage because they are often a metaphor for more fun, but here no! The youthfully attractive masseuse exposed only innocence with a smile and excitement reserved for novices in life; not a hint, not even an accidental brushing of anything that remotely could be called teasing – just a damn good massage.
Next, a Chinese massage was requested to see if anything would happen behind closed doors – nada! Nyet! Zip! Even though the doors were void of any peeking windows, and were double closed with drapes as well – there was nothing to hide or muffle.
Surprisingly I had the choice of either my cute thigh massage specialist, or by one who appeared to be the floor-manager, wearing a stern look along with her black pant suit, to give the prone massage; I opted for the cute one, but again not even the slightest touch that could be in any way conceived as a hint of forbidden fruits – just apple slices!
On leaving at 17:00, I noted a few others semi-attractive masseuses had shown up, but still a sparseness of clients. In summary, I don’t know if it was my lack of communication ability in Chinese that restricted optional services, but I must say the massages were “almost” worth the 328 yuan fee.
